Biography
On the first day, we were assigned to write a biography for our self. On the left, you can see the written portion alongside a picture of myself.
Personal Narrative
This narrative is a true event that happened in my life. This was a big turning point in my life that made me go in a whole new direction.
"Yes, it's finally my turn!" I exclaimed after my sister had finished her turn on the new Wii system. "Not yet, Kenzie, can you come and sit down, your dad and I need to talk to both of you." The following conversation changed my life forever.
"Your father and I are separating." My mom said. I glanced at my family, seeing that all of them were tearing up. My dad chimed in and said that he was going to find a place near by so we could stop by and get our stuff. Now I was tearing up. It was a very emotional time, and I was stunned from the conversation that had just taken place. After quite some time of crying, I asked if I could play Wii. I got permission and took my anger out on the NPC's.
Going back to school after the break was difficult because all of my friends were trying to comfort me when I was just trying to forget it ever happened. After several months had passed, my dad moved into an apartment near my school. My sister and I stayed there for a week in order to get used to a new house. There were a lot of kids my age that lived there, so I made friends easily, and I lived across the street from my best friend at the time.
This time was hard on every member of my family, but I stayed strong. Or so it appeared. On the outside I was tough, but on the inside I was very upset. It felt like my emotions were spinning like a tornado. The years have passed, and this event still affects my everyday life. Who am I staying with tonight, where will I be tomorrow, and where I move my stuff.
That happened three years ago, and I have adjusted very well. I'm used to the ever changing schedule. That New Years Eve changed my life forever. I will never forget what had happened that night. This milestone has changed me, and I kind of like the change.

Response To Literature
This essay was about what traits we liked about a character in our book. I chose the traits of Sarcasm, Humor, and Leadership for Maximum Ride. Unfortunately, during the same accident that occurred with my iPad that deleted my travel Brochure also took this essay victim.
Character Grammar Books
This assignment was used to teach us parts of speech by relating it to our book. I was currently reading the Maximum Ride series and I based mine on Fang. Unfortunately, during a spill of a Capri-Sun, the book was ruined in my backpack along with other school works.
The Celebrated Jumping Frogs of Calaveras County..... A Modern Twist.
In ELA one day, we read a short story by Mark Twain. Little did we know that we would have to reenact The Celebrated Jumping Frogs of Calaveras County. My group decided to make a modern twist. Enjoy!
NaNoWriMo- National Novel Writing Month

Persuasive Essay
Our next writing assignment was to write a persuasive essay to get the readers/listeners onto our side of the argument.
My topic was Books, Are They a Thing of The Past?
My topic was Books, Are They a Thing of The Past?
Picture this, you’re inside a library. You look to your left and see a group of friends studying for their quarter final. You glance to your right and see a little girl reading Little Red Riding Hood. But as you glance forward, you notice something a little odd. A college student was using an E-Reader to create a presentation. If you believe that books will never be replaced, well you’re entitled to your opinion and I mine. But, before we hit the books, let me share an interesting fact. Currently, e-readers account for 5% of the book market, and in a survey conducted by Harvard college students, only 15% of the surveyed would replace books with e-readers. This number is currently low, but how long until books become a thing of the past. I believe that once you’ve heard me out, you might have a second opinion on books. So one question, books, are they becoming a thing of the past?
The book, such a basic invention, we began with antiquity, moved to tablets, scrolls, books, and finally, more modern tablets. Since the creation of books, such classics as Les Miserables, Lord of The Flies, and even the Bible have been created. In modern times, we can own these classics on iPads, Nooks, and Kindles. But, I’m curious, why did we create something to replace one of our classic forms of entertainment. Perhaps it was to save nature and reduce the manufacturing of paper, but I believe that it was to advance the world down the technological superhighway. Some say that this just a phase and books will survive for ages and ages hence, but I believe that this invention will stay. There are multiple advantages to using this new technology.
Our personal books can be written in. But schools textbooks can’t. Time to listen to my scenarios again. Imagine this, you’re a high school senior who really wants to get into a nice college. It’s the night before your final math exam. You studied but can’t grasp the idea for one concept until now. You finally understand the quadratic formula. All of a sudden, your mother interrupts your thinking to call you down for dinner. You searched for scratch paper to write your thoughts on but find none. The next day, you forget the concept and get a D- on the test. Let’s try to rewrite this scenario. You are using a digital textbook that has an annotation option. When you understand the concept, you annotate the book right next to the concept and pass the test with flying colors. Certain studies show that students who annotate in the book score the best on the test versus students who didn’t annotate at all. If us students could annotate appropriately, test scores would increase majorly. I have created a nice system that could be put into action.
When I have had school textbooks loaned to me, I have seen inappropriate doodles, phrases, or answers marked. If e-readers were placed into system, the textbooks could be wiped of all annotation. Books of any kind will be lost or stolen. If e-readers were placed into system, then the reader could be tracked and taken back to the schools. Some may say that the expensiveness of the e-readers would tempt them to be stolen. I agree to disagree, but after the school day is over, then the readers would be locked up.
I hope you found this essay not only interesting, but persuading. So, do you believe that books are becoming a thing of the past, or is it the e-reader that will become history?

Fed Ex Project
This is my personal favorite for projects. For this project, we were assigned to research a certain topic from, or relating to our novel. I am currently reading George R.R. Martin's series, a Song of Ice and Fire. More commonly known as A Game of Thrones. I researched how they convert this fascinating novel into a t.v. series. More specific than that, where they film, who acts, and what visual effects do they use? The link for my project is gameofthronesfedex.weebly.com
Ode to Memories
Two weeks, two weeks of freedom, two weeks of escape, two weeks of spring break. From camping, to a Jon Foreman concert, and then relaxing. We start on a Friday, an exceptionally long day of school. As the clock ticks down to the final seconds, we wait, like predators stalking their prey, the... The bell sounds and we are released.
The smell of sea salt, strong as it could be, fills my senses, I'm home. South Carlsbad State Beach. The place I go every spring break. The waves crash like a thunderstorm, but flow just as peaceful as a calmed lagoon. The sun so hot, the water so cold, and the memories, so perfect.
One week, one week of bike rides, marshmallow gun wars, boogie boarding, and making memories. There were times of relaxation, when we were calmer than a sleeping baby, others, as energetic as a little kid who just drank five Mountain Dew's. but towards the end, a faulty brake, leads to a broken wrist, and a missing companion.
The Nite Before, the Saturday before Easter Sunday. A concert, with Jon Foreman of Switchfoot. The music was good, and the crowds were larger than one gymnasium could hold. The next week would consist of relaxation, Minecraft, Watching a New Series, Doctor Who, and babysitting a new member of the family, Sadie, a Golden Retriever puppy.
The weeks are up, two gone by so fast, but felt so long. One thing always comes from spring break, memories, these two weeks can create times you'll never forget, or times you want to forget, but nobody else will does. Memories, that's what spring break is made of. Times you will never forget.

I Asked
I asked the lizard why it was
Red, and it changed, changed to a
Bright green.
I asked the leaf why it was orange,
And it changed to a spring green.
I asked the sign why it said stop,
And it told me to go.
I asked the wind to blow,
And it turned an arrow pointing
East.
I asked the asked the trees why they
We're bare and sad, and they grew and
Smiled at me.
I asked myself, why everything changed,
And the trees became bare and sad once more,
The arrow sign told me to stop,
And the wind stopped blowing,
And then I was quiet,
And everything was perfect.
Red, and it changed, changed to a
Bright green.
I asked the leaf why it was orange,
And it changed to a spring green.
I asked the sign why it said stop,
And it told me to go.

Poetry Recitation
A recent project was to create a visual aspect for a poem with music in the background and our voice reading it. My poem is The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost. The music in the background is Wagon Wheel by Darius Rucker
